Day 1- Arrival in Panama City

We made it to Panama City! So far our impression is that this is a country of very warm, friendly people! A very modern, cosmopolitan city with people from all over the world.

Soccer fever is rampant here. Everyone is watching the World Cup and wearing their Panama team red soccer shirts, Even the immigration officials had their Panamanian soccer shirts on.

There was a beautiful church right by our hotel.

The architecture in Panama City is strikingly beautiful. It reminds me of Chicago with several beautiful buildings designed by renowned architects. In the distance you can see the Bahia Grand Panama, formerly the Trump Ocean Club International Hotel and Tower.  A Colombian architect designed the building to resemble the hotel in Dubai shaped like a ships sail. When it was first built it was the tallest building in central America – 70 stories tall. This is the building the Trump Organization fought to not have the Trump name removed from the building, but they lost.  Today the locals referred to it as the ExTrump Tower.
